Baked Spinach & Beetroot Jowar Chakli | Baked Jowar Chakli

These healthy and crispy Baked Spinach & Beetroot Jowar Chakli are super tasty and crunchy to have with your evening tea or any other time of the day!


Makes 25 Chaklis

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Jowar flakes or Sorghum flour

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida or hing

  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped

  • 1/2 cup spinach leaves

  • 1/2 beetroot, chopped and pureed

  • 2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  • 4 tsp butter

  • oil, for greasing

  • Water, for kneading

Instructions

  1. Take Jowar flakes and grind them into a fine powder.

  2. In a bowl, add jowar flour, whole wheat flour, hing, salt, sesame seeds, cumin seeds and butter.

  3. Divide it into 2 parts.

  4. In a grinder, add spinach leaves, green chillies and add 1/4 cup water to grind it into a fine paste.

  5. Similarly, take beetroot and add green chillies and puree it using water.

  6. Add them to each part and knead it into a soft and stiff dough.

  7. Cover it with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

  8. After 30 minutes, take the spinach dough and using a chakli maker, make spinach chaklis.

  9. Similarly, using beetroot dough, make beetroot chaklis.

  10. Grease a baking tray.

  11. Now seal or join one spinach chakli with a beetroot chakli and place them over a greased baking tray.

  12. Preheat the oven or OTG at 200˚C for 15 minutes.

  13. Bake at 200˚C for 15-20 minutes then take them out and turn them over and again bake for 15 minutes.

  14. Baked Spinach & Beetroot Jowar Chakli which is a perfect tea-time snack is ready!
