Beetroot Burgers | Healthy Beetroot Burger With Beetroot Patty

These Beetroot burgers are one of a kind! They are so delicious and enriched with the goodness of freshly plucked beetroots!


Makes 4 Buns

Ingredients

For Buns:

  • 1/2 cup beetroot, peeled and pureed

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour or atta

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • 6 tbsp plain curd or yogurt

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

For Patty or Tikki:

  • 4 potatoes, boiled and mashed

  • 1 beetroot, peeled and grated

  • 1 cup sabudana, soaked

  • 2 green chillies, chopped

  • 2 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp jeera or cumin powder

  • 1 tsp chaat masala

  • 3 tbsp besan or gram flour

  • 1.5 tbsp roasted peanut powder

  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add curd, beetroot puree and oil and whisk well.

  2. Sieve the dry ingredients into the bowl, atta, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar.

  3. Mix them well and knead it into a soft dough.

  4. Continue to knead it for 10 minutes and then keep it covered in a bowl and brush it with some oil.

  5. Allow it to prove for 2 hours.

  6. After 2 hours, knead the dough once again and cut it into 4 parts.

  7. Tuck each part into a round ball and press it gently on the baking tray lined with butter paper.

  8. Brush it with some oil and sprinkle some sesame seeds over each bun.

  9. Preheat the oven or OTG at 200˚C for 15-20 minutes.

  10. Bake the burger buns at 180˚C for 30 minutes.

  11. For the patty, soak the sabudana in water overnight or for 4-5 hours. Then drain off the excess water and keep it aside.

  12. In a bowl, add boiled and mashed potatoes, sabudana, beetroot pureed or shredded, green chillies, salt, red chilli powder, jeera powder, chaat masala, besan and roasted peanut powder.

  13. Mix them well and form a dough.

  14. Make small round balls from the dough and flatten them to form tikkis or patty.

  15. Heat oil in a pan or Kadhai.

  16. Deep fry the Beetroot Patty on medium-high flame till golden brown and then take out on a tissue paper.

  17. Place the scrumptious patty in the burger buns.

  18. Enjoy the delicious and healthy beetroot burgers with your favourite sauces!
