Lauki Ke Kofte | Lauki Kofte Curry



Serves 5

Ingredients

For kofte:

  • 250 gms lauki, washed, peeled and grated

  • 2-3 boiled potatoes, boiled and mashed

  • 2 tbsp besan or gram flour

  • 1 tsp black pepper powder

  • 1.5 tsp salt, or to taste

For curry:

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1-2 tej patta or bay leaves

  • 1 tsp jeera or cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 3-4 tomatoes, pureed

  • 1 tsp amchoor or dry mango powder

  • 2 tsp salt, or to taste

  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp jeera or cumin powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder or dhania

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder or haldi

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • Few coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. To make the kofte, mix all the ingredients together and form a dough.

  2. Make round or oval balls from it and deep fry them in hot oil.

  3. For the curry, in a pressure cooker, add some oil and jeera seeds and bay leaves.

  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped onions and cook till they become brown in colour.

  5. Then add pureed tomatoes and all the spices to it.

  6. Pressure cook it for 5-6 whistles.

  7. Add the fried koftas to it and serve garnished with some fresh coriander leaves.
