Matar Parantha | Peas Parantha | Healthy Indian Bread

Delicious Indian Flatbread stuffed with fresh and seasonal green peas, makes the most delicious Matar Parantha!


Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 cups peas, boiled and coarsely grinded

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds or jeera

  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated

  • 2 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp mango powder or amchoor

  • 1 tbsp gran flour or besan

  • 2-3 green chillies chopped

For the dough:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

  • Water to knead the dough

  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a kadhai or pan, add oil and cumin seeds.

  2. When they begin to crackle, add ginger and green chillies.

  3. Add in all the spices and peas and cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Finally, add besan and cook till it begins to leave the sides of the pan.

  5. Transfer to a bowl and keep it aside.

  6. Knead a soft yet stiff dough for the parantha.

  7. Take one portion for a parantha. Roll it into a circle. Add 1 tbsp peas batter to it and pinch the sides to the centre to form a stuffed ball.

  8. Then roll out again to form a parantha.

  9. Cook it on a tawa using oil, until crisp from both sides.

  10. Winter-Special Matar Parantha is best enjoyed with white butter.
