Sooji Upma | Rava Upma | Healthy Breakfast

Serves 5

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sooji or rava or semolina

  • 2 cups water, boiling

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp peanuts

  • 1 tsp rai or black mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp chana dal, washed

  • 1 tsp urad dal, washed

  • 7-8 kadi patta or curry leaves

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a pan, add oil and rai. Allow it to crackle.

  2. Add green chillies, kadi patta and onions and saute till the onions turn translucent.

  3. Add peanuts, chana dal and urad dal and roast them well.

  4. Once roasted, add suji or semolina to it and roast it too.

  5. Add salt and roast it for 6-7 minutes.

  6. Then add boiling water to it while continuously stirring.

  7. Cover and cook for about a minute and then squeeze in some lemon juice.

  8. Serve hot upma with a cup of tea.
