Serves 2
Ingredients
2 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp cashew nuts or almonds
5 bread slices, cut into cubes
8 tsp sugar
1.5 cup milk
4-5 saffron strands
1 tsp cardamom or elaichi powder
1 tbsp ghee, to be added on top
3 different food colours, 2-3 drops each
Instructions
In a pan, melt ghee and saute the nuts. Remove once they turn red.
To the same pan, add bread cubes and saute them till they turn reddish.
Now add in the milk and sugar and cook till the bread dissolves completely and reaches a halwa type consistency.
Then add in elaichi powder and saffron strands and finally the fried nuts to the halwa.
To make the tricolour halwa, we will divide the bread halwa into 3 parts.
To one red colour, to the second yellow and the third green.
Now in a glass, place the green layer at the bottom, then the yellow and top it with the red layer.
On the top of the layers place some fried nuts and saffron strands and your tricoloured halwa is ready!
